The Board of Directors and General Meeting Report
There was not a meeting in July. The next meeting is August 10th.
We had another great picnic this year with great weather and great food. Thanks to the efforts of Wendy and Rick Greenwell all had a great time. The buffalo burgers and brats were awesome as was all the tasty stuff everyone brought.
Earlier this year Jimmie Phillips was voted in as an Honorary Life Member of the SDSDC. Jimmie was given this honor for his 19 years of volunteerism and support of the San Diego Sporting Dog Club. Even with Taz and Rio having gone off to pheasant heaven Jimmie continues to volunteer at our Shoot to Retrieve events and be our Firearms Safety Officer. Thanks Jimmie, The club wouldn't be what it is without your efforts. Thanks go out to Mary Sarmiento, Pam Felgenhauer and Mike Linville, Ron Dotson and Randy Domingos for contributing to Jimmies award.
Jimmie Received two awards with his Honorary Membership. An engraved plaque and a composite photo of himself with his two best pals Taz and Rio.
Awards were presented for the February Shoot to Retrieve. Congratulations to our winners.
We also recognized our volunteers for this years events with special prizes for volunteers that attended the picnic. Volunteers that helped out at our Shoot to Retrieve events, Safety Shoot, Rattlesnake Avoidance Clinic and picnic and all the other little chores that need to be done. Thanks again to all of you that pitch in and make it all happen.
In the Field
Some of us met at Prado Dog Park in Chino on July 23rd for a day of impromptu dog training. Mary came up with the idea at the picnic and got the ball rolling. Thanks Mary. We were able to snag a pond with an adjoining field so we had a nice area to ourselves. The pointers worked the field in the morning. We got in lots of good points, backing work and retrieves. We also did some cross training with the retrievers working the field and the pointers doing water work. We all had fun and were out of there before it got too warm. There was some talk of trying to go again soon so watch your email.

FOR SALE: Custom Truck Vaults:
If any members are interested in a truck vault check this out. I had this made in Oregon by a skilled cabinet maker. It is like the "truck vaults" you can pay two to three times as much for. He will make one like this for $700. If someone wants one, I can bring it back on one of my numerous trips back and forth. If someone is interested they can get a closer look at mine at my home or have them call Mike Moran at 619-444-4158. I get nothing out of this but goodwill. Trying to pump a little money into the economy up there. My box is for a short bed 6.5'. An eight footer might be a bit more. I had the drawers made to hold my longest shotgun - 55".
